Jodie, Diagnosed With Ovarian Cancer

During lockdown I noticed a large lump in my stomach.

Thinking it was a hernia I called the doctor who said she couldn't see me due to COVID, but if I still have it in two weeks then to go back. After I noticed it, I would be full up after eating a small amount, get lower back pain and look 9 months pregnant when I ate!

I went back to my doctor who saw me this time and sent me for an ultrasound. I got told I had a cyst that was 12cm and I would be referred. A few weeks on I got told it was benign but after an MRI scan it had grown to 15cm by 12cm! It was difficult to get surgery during COVID but it wasn't too long.

Then on the morning of the surgery they asked if they could remove my tubes due to risks. I agreed, however my cyst burst during surgery but thankfully all went well.

Until two weeks later when I had a check up and was told the biopsy showed I had ovarian cancer stage 2 and I would need further treatment to be safe.

I was shocked, but two years later I'm still having 3 monthly checks and so far I have no recurring cancer!
