Halle, Ovarian Cancer Survivor

Hi my name's Halle and here is my story of cancer...

When I was 15 I was constantly struggling to pee. I lost a lot of weight and wouldn’t drink much which was very unusual for me. The pain started getting worse and my back pain was so severe I couldn’t sit for longer than 30 seconds and would struggle to walk and lay down.

My mum took me to the doctors and they misdiagnosed me 4 times saying it was sciatica or a bad case of a UTI. Then one day it got too much and my Mum dragged me to A&E as she knew something wasn’t right.

I was in A&E for many hours and when I was finally seen they did a pee test and blood tests. The results came back saying I was pregnant which I definitely was not. They thought I was in denial or didn't want to tell my parents I was pregnant.

As I was adamant I wasn’t pregnant they sent me for an ultrasound and there was no baby. About 45 minutes later the consultant came in and told me I have a tumour on my ovary and it was cancerous. From there I had more tests and found it was stage 4 and had spread to my lungs with 42 tumours! So I had 42 tumours in my lungs and a 13cm by 20 cm tumour in my ovary. I had all different kinds of treatment and operations and was finally cancer free a few months later.

I'm now 4 years in remission!!
