The Robin Cancer Trust wins major award at the Chartered Institute of Fundraising East Anglia Awards.
We are celebrating after taking home the award for best Campaign/Event of the Year at the Chartered Institute of Fundraising East Anglia’s 2025 Fundraising Awards.
The awards celebrate the incredible work by fundraisers, volunteers and organisations whose passion and creativity make a difference across Essex, Norfolk, Suffolk, Hertfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Bedfordshire.
At the recent online event, The Robin Cancer Trust were awarded best Campaign/Event of the Year for our founder and CEO Toby Freeman’s Big Ballsy Challenge! Toby set himself the challenge of running 500K dressed as a giant testicle, which so far has seen him take on the London Marathon, Brighton Marathon and the length of Hadrian’s Wall!
With over three million views, a reach of 275 million, the campaign smashed taboos and sparked vital conversations to save lives. The independent panel of judges commended Toby’s achievements, his fundraising and his media coverage, including an interview with BBC Radio 2.
Jill Purcell, Chair of The Chartered Institute of Fundraising Awards 2025 commented:
“Toby’s Big Ballsy Challenge is a brilliant and bold campaign that has been fantastic at both raising vital funds for the Robin Cancer Trust and sparking crucial conversations about checking for the early signs of testicular cancer. We are thrilled it won Campaign of the Year at this awards, a well-deserved honour for a gutsy idea that is making a real difference.”
Toby Freeman, added:
“I am so proud to receive this award from the Chartered Institute of Fundraising East Anglia. The Big Ballsy Campaign has taken a lot of work and dedication from the team and myself, and recognitions like these make it all worth it as we continue our mission to spread awareness and save more lives from germ-cell cancers.”
Toby is continuing his aim to run 500km and raise his target of £240,000, which equates to £100 for each of the 2,400 men diagnosed in the UK with testicular cancer.
