The Robin Cancer Trust
Jan 21, 2026
Cambridge United Football Club have joined forces with charity The Robin Cancer Trust to raise awareness of testicular cancer through a bold campaign called ‘Check Your Balls’.
The campaign has previously been supported by fellow EFL league two club Colchester United and aims to encourage young men to regularly check themselves and be aware of what’s normal.
The Cambridge United players have backed the life-saving initiative, with the support of their Manager Neil Harris who was diagnosed with testicular cancer in 2001, but successfully overcame the illness and has since dedicated efforts to raise awareness about the disease.
Testicular cancer is the most common cancer in young men aged 15-45, but when detected early, it is 95% curable. The Robin Cancer Trust’s mission is to make sure every young person knows the signs and feels confident checking themselves regularly.
The players posed with signs highlighting the five key signs and symptoms of testicular cancer: lump, hardness, swelling, pain and heaviness.
Cambridge United Manager Neil Harris said: “We’re proud to support The Robin Cancer Trust ‘Check Your Balls’ campaign and help spread this vital message. It's such a fantastic charity doing such great work to provide awareness, education and support to young people.
As a cancer survivor in 2001, I fully endorse and support the work that they do. My message would be if anyone has any doubt [about their symptoms] whatsoever, please see your GP.”
The Robin Cancer Trust’s Community Engagement Manager Darren Couchman, who is also a testicular cancer survivor, will be visiting the club to provide an awareness talk to the first team and academy players to guide them and advise them on how to check themselves.
Founded in 2012 following the passing of Robin Freeman, who lost his life to testicular cancer aged just 24, The Robin Cancer Trust is dedicated to saving lives through awareness, education and support for young adults affected by testicular, ovarian and germ cell cancers.
