On Saturday, 26th July, our Community Engagement Officer, Victoria, and 3 volunteer Charity Champions attended Nottingham Pride to help deliver our life-saving ovarian and testicular cancer awareness information!
It was a fantastic day, and the team engaged with hundreds of people, letting them know all about the signs and symptoms of testicular and ovarian cancer.
As usual, our resources went down a treat! Our custom temporary tattoos, in particular, were a great hit! As people passed by, they made sure to write down their favourite words for testicles on our Robin Cancer Trust Testicle Name Whiteboard. It's a great way to grab attention from the public and foster life-saving conversations about the importance of monthly testicular self-checks.
Community Engagement Officer Victoria said:
'It was so lovely to see families engaging with the stall and explaining different body parts to their children. One mum even told her 8-year-old about the importance of checking regularly when he is older and what to look out for when it comes to unusual testicular symptoms.'
We also received some generous donations from visitors to the awareness stall. These funds will help us continue to save more lives and support young people with germ-cell cancer.
Our awareness stalls and talks at events like Nottingham Pride start so many important health conversations with people of all ages, encouraging many people to take ovarian and testicular cancer symptoms seriously and to visit their GP if they are concerned.
