Feeling the Love [Hearts] with the incredible team at Swizzels — a sweet day of sharing stories, raising awareness and starting life-saving conversations!
As the Robin Cancer Trust's Awareness Officer I had the privilege of delivering our life-saving awareness talks to the amazing team at Swizzels — yes, the home of Love Hearts and Squashies!
Over the course of the day, I gave two talks to staff across the business, including those on the factory floor. I even gained an insight into life in the factory, discovering that Squashies are their best seller — closely followed by the classic Love Hearts!
One of the Swizzels’ company values is “enjoy and have fun” which shone through — their team loved our awareness resources, especially the beer mats, stickers and tattoos.
But there was a serious side to the conversation and many staff members bravely shared personal experiences — from a friend who had testicular cancer to someone who had experienced ovarian cancer, and others who’d found lumps and thankfully got checked out. These powerful stories are exactly why we do what we do and how we can save lives.
Luckily there was just enough time to visit the staff sweet shop before heading home — it would’ve been rude not to! 😄
